How do I maintain my BBQ Plancha Grill?

Why is Plancha maintenance important??

A well-maintained Plancha grill not only delivers better cooking results, but also lasts considerably longer. By cleaning your grill thoroughly after each use and regularly protecting it against rust, you can prevent damage and ensure that it always looks like new.

What happens if you don't maintain your Plancha properly?

  • Food residues and grease remain behind
  • Rust forms more quickly
  • The non-stick coating is damaged
  • The cooking plate becomes less hygienic

🧽 Daily maintenance – quick and effective

Your Plancha will still be warm immediately after use. This is the ideal time to clean it:

  1. Scrape off food residues with a spatula or metal scraper.
  2. Use papertowel to remove the residue..
  3. Rub the plate with a layer of oil. This prevents rust and helps to strengthen the non-stick coating.

👉 Do NOT use water or cleaning agents during this process. Water on a hot plate can cause warping or damage.

🧼 Thorough cleaning – for the longer term

Depending on how often you use your grill, it is a good idea to give it an extra thorough clean every now and then.

  1. Allow the plate to become very hot. (without food).
  2. Pour some oil onto the plate and leave it to soak in for 15-25 minutes.
  3. Scrape off the loose residue with a spatula or wire brush.
  4. Allow to cool and wipe clean with a cloth or kitchen roll..
  5. Apply oil for protection.

🛡 Preventing and treating rust

Prevention:

  • Cover your Plancha with a protective cover or our stainless steel cover plate.
  • Store it in a dry place when not in use.
  • Oil the plate after each use to prevent rust.

Treat:

  • Sand away light rust spots with a plancha spatula or filling knife.
  • Then burn again in several layers depending on the amount of rust.
